These are the technical specifications for film delivery for Showcase within the School of Film/Video.

  • File Format: QuickTime (.mov)
  • Codec/Compressor: Apple ProRes 422 HQ
  • Size: 16:9 container, HD (1920×1080) or 4kUHD (3840×2160), with alternative aspect ratios letterboxed or pillarboxed within the 16:9 container.
  • Frame Rate: 24
  • Pixel Aspect Ratio: Square
  • Field Order: Progressive
  • Audio Channels: Stereo (2 Channels) or 5.1 (6 Channels)
  • Audio Sample Rate: 48,000 Hz (48 kHz)
  • Audio Bit Depth: 24 bit
  • Audio Codec: Uncompressed PCM

Re-name your QuickTime file using the Calarts F/V Standard Naming Convention, plus this additional information

How to double-check you film file’s specs

You can double-check you export’s codec, frame rate, resolution, and audio by opening your file in QuickTime

  • Press ⌘I, or Navigate to Window > Show Movie Inspector
  • “Video Format” is your film’s video codec, “Encoded FPS” is your film’s frame rate, and “Audio Format”, lists all the audio settings for your film
