Producers’ Show Participant Instructions
These instructions apply only to films that have been selected to screen in the 2025 Producers’ Show.
Deadline
All revised Producers’ Show ProRes film files are due at 12:00 Noon (Pacific Time), Friday, May 2nd, 2025.
Sound Mixes
All films that are accepted into the Producers’ Show are required to have a sound mix. Sound mixes will be scheduled by Daniel Eaton (deaton@calarts.edu) after the film list has been posted. He will contact Producers’ Show participants with specific mix times. Mixes are currently expected to start Monday, April 28, and conclude Thursday, May 1, 2025.
Revisions
If you want to make any revisions to your film for the Producers’ Show:
- It’s ok to finish coloring animation, fix any compositing problems, and make improvements to your soundtrack (including music).
- If you need to tighten the editing a little bit, that’s ok – but not if it alters the structure or story of your film.
- Credits can be extended to be more reasonable in length (e.g. by an additional 3-5 seconds).
- Any changes made to your film’s timing (even a single frame timing difference) or sound edit must be completed prior to your sound mix.
- Check spelling, punctuation and capitalization of names and titles in the Producers’ Show Film List.
- Email Maija Burnett, Shane Vincent, and Jonah Primiano (mburnett@calarts.edu, svincent@calarts.edu, jprimiano@calarts.edu) with submission and film questions, or Submit a 2 Pop Ticket with any technical questions.
You are not allowed to:
- Make significant editorial, story, timing or content changes.
- Increase the length of your film (except as noted above for credits).
Submission Instructions
When you’re ready to submit your final ProRes film file, you have write-only access (you will be able to drop files into the folder, but not see what is inside) to a folder on FVCentral located at:
FVCentral > Submissions > Showcase > Character Animation > Producers Show

This folder is different from where you submitted your Open Show film. Even if you have made no revisions to your film since the Open Show, please copy your final video file to this new submission folder so we’re certain we have the right version of it.
Option-drag your file to ensure that it copies. You will not be able to access the contents of this submission folder.
Daniel will be providing the final sound files to us directly. While you will get a copy of your sound mix files, you do not need to submit them, or add your mixed audio onto your film. Film/Video staff will layback the final mixes onto all films. Please do not remove the audio from your film. We use it as reference for the layback. (A layback is the process of generating a video file for distribution by combining a completed color corrected video, with a completed sound mix)
Please only submit your film when you have finished revising it. We will not accept resubmissions, unless we specifically request them.
If any revised films miss the Producers’ Show deadline, we will use the Open Show versions of the films instead.
