You’ve received your Computing Kit! The following is a helpful guide on how best to unpack the iPad and Pencil. It will be important to save the packing materials so as to make returning the equipment easier.
If you picked up your Computing Kit in person, you received it in a blue bag. Skip ahead to continue the unboxing instructions. If your Computing Kit was shipped to you, continue reading.
Unpacking Instructions (for shipped Computing Kits)
If your Computing Kit was shipped to you, you will receive it in a box. Place the box on the floor, or a flat, stable surface. Orient the box so the word “Top” is on top.
Carefully cut through the tape on the top to open the box. Be careful not to cut through the cardboard since you will need to re-use the box to return the equipment.
Inside the box you will find an envelope with setup instructions and, if your Computing Kit was shipped to you, a return shipping label. Place this envelope somewhere safe – you will need it to set up your devices and return the equipment.
Also, keep the box and all packing materials. You will need those to repack the equipment. A roll of packing tape has also been included.
Remove all bubble-wrap and take out each item one at a time.
Unboxing Instructions (all Computing Kits)
Depending on the type of Computing Kit you applied for, it may include the following: a MacBook Pro with a case and/or an iPad Pro with a case, and an Apple Pencil.
This article will walk you through unboxing the iPad Pro and Apple Pencil.
Carefully cut through the tape to open the box. Be careful not to cut through the cardboard since you will need to re-use the box to return the equipment.
Remove the iPad retail box from its shipping box.
Remove the top of the iPad retail box.
Pull up on the plastic tab at the bottom of the iPad to lift the device out of the box.
Flip the iPad over and continue unwrapping the plastic from the device. Please keep this plastic wrapping for when you return your Computing Kit.
Once plastic has been removed, you’re ready to put on the included case.
Remove the case from its packaging and open up the case so that it is lying flat and open on the table.
Slide the top of the iPad into the top two corners of the case.
Work your way around the corners, pressing each one into the bottom of the case. This can be a little tough as the case is a tight fit.
An installation video from the manufacturer is available here:
Once the case is on the iPad it should look like this:
The case can be folded over into a stand, to prop up the iPad:
If your kit came with an Apple Pencil, the pencil will fit into the clip on the edge of the case, and magnetically attach to the iPad.
The case will fold over the pencil when closed, preventing it from falling out.
