Title

Futility MV Production Safety Plan

Production Intro

Fei, front-person for the band Meishi Smile, performs the song “Futility” in front of a built CRT shelf set dressed with collected plants and cables. Shooting will consist of a crew of three (same household) and the talent. We will be shooting the CRT shelf set performance within a 2-day span, the second day optional for pickups if needed. Crew will also be gathering b-roll footage and partial animation scenes of the personally owned CRT monitor at home in the following shoot days until the camera’s return date.

This shoot will be covering JUST the front-person performance and partial animation sequences, the rest of the shoot will be planned on a later date closer to the summer. Content-wise: there will only be one talent performing on camera, and no crowd scenes.

Objectives

  • Experiment with video speed/timing within live action and animation sequences with the use of talent performance and CRT monitors.
  • Explore the multidisciplinary approach of the music video, using experimental visual techniques that include animation, timelapse, pixilation, and multi-monitor media players.
  • Utilize the resources provided by CalArts to execute simple shooting plans with a skeleton crew from a single household.
  • Practice producing/logistical skills during the pandemic.

General Safety Plan

  • This document will be sent to crew and talent before shooting as well as posted around the set.
  • PPE: KN95 masks (20 total for both days including talent), face shields (10 total for both days including talent), sanitation supplies (isopropyl alcohol spray, hand sanitizer bottles), paper towels, box of disposable gloves.
  • Safety Meeting will be held on March 5th virtually so talent is included, and for all shooting days to reiterate guidelines before we start working.
