Production Services (Introduction)

Production Services is a department within the School of Film/Video that works with students on their projects. Its’ mandate is to create a culture of personal responsibility and achievement. 

Production Services assists with:

• Script breakdowns
• Scheduling and production calendars
• Crew organization and staffing
• Risk assessments
• Stunts and special effects
• Weapons and prop weapons
• Drones and aerial filming
• Fire and atmospheric effects (smoke, haze, fog)
• Electrical and rigging safety
• Travel productions and remote locations
• FilmLA and municipal permit coordination
• University policies and compliance
• Intimacy coordination
• Release forms and production paperwork
• Transportation and vehicle safety plans
• Emergency action planning
• Sustainability and environmentally responsible production practices
• Distribution and festival preparation resources

Production Services oversees hundreds of student productions each year and serves as a resource for filmmakers at every level of experience. Students are encouraged to consult with Production Services early in the development process, as many production, safety, and logistical issues are easier to address during pre-production than after filming has begun.
